For instance, automakers shrink to become more profitable and efficient, historic names like Mercury, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac are fading from history. Names like Chrysler, Jaguar, and Volvo are looking for new parent companies outside their home countries. And new companies have sprung up, like Rivian and Tesla.
