Internationally renowned retailer, Marks & Spencer, has announced the reopening of its Pantheon flagship outlet on Oxford Street in London. The renovated store will not only offer an enhanced shopping experience but will also serve as a pilot project for future outlets, potentially including those in the Asian market.

Situated over four floors and spanning 100,000 square feet, the store offers a comprehensive selection of the retailer’s food, fashion, home, and beauty products. Each floor has undergone a transformation according to a fresh research and development blueprint. Marks & Spencer plans to further refine this blueprint based on customer feedback and success, with plans to implement successful features throughout its wider store network in the future.

The refurbished store now boasts several new features including curated product rooms, an updated approach to merchandising, digital displays, and renovated service areas. Among the new services is Marks & Spencer’s first-ever made-to-order menswear suiting service. Other additions include a dedicated lingerie room, a Babywear room, a Beauty Hall showcasing Marks & Spencer products alongside third-party brands, including K-Beauty, and a homeware section curated by renowned interior designer Kelly Hoppen.

In efforts to streamline the shopping experience, customers will also have access to improved Click & Collect, payment, and in-store service experiences.

Stuart Machin, CEO of Marks & Spencer, shared that the Pantheon location is a tangible reflection of the retailer’s modernization strategy. He articulated the company’s drive towards making shopping easier, more curated, and more inspiring, from product display to overall store ambiance. However, Machin also acknowledged that they still have a long way to go in modernizing their estate, citing a 25-year backlog. Nonetheless, the reopening of the Pantheon store marks significant progress in this direction.

The Pantheon store is one of six Marks & Spencer outlets undergoing renovation in London this year. There are also plans for four new store openings. On a broader scale, the retailer has plans to open two new full-line stores and 18 Food stores across the UK, along with four store extensions and several additional refurbishments.
